One World is an international festival of documentary films on human rights issues.

The aim of the project is to organise the 16th edition of the One World 2024 festival in Třinec, which has been bringing human rights documentaries from all over the world to domestic audiences since its inception in 1999. Today, One World is the largest festival of its kind in the world and one of the most important festivals of its kind. One World has been awarded an honorary mention by UNESCO for human rights education. Since its inception in 1999, the festival has been one of the activities of the People in Need charity. Films are screened in dozens of cities across the country and since 2008 also in Třinec. Guided screenings at primary and secondary schools are also an essential part of the festival. Every year, dozens of guests from different countries come to the festival – not only filmmakers, but also protagonists and human rights defenders. We will welcome some of these guests to Třinec and arrange discussions with them.

The organizing team also strives to ensure accessibility for all viewers, including those who are blind or partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing, or have reduced mobility.

One World in Třinec is organised by Petrklíč help in cooperation with the Library and Gallery Třinec.
The festival is organised by a team of volunteers and librarians with representatives of the above-mentioned organisations.

During the festival, the Homo Homini International Human Rights Prize is awarded to personalities who have made a significant contribution to the promotion of human rights, democracy and the non-violent resolution of political conflicts.
